Having a concealed carry permit in new york means that you must carry it concealed.
New York Penal Law says you can be arrested for menacing for placing a person in fear of his life. By carrying your weapon openly.

The same Pay and wait Game.The process has seemed to slowed down in our county. If it is a real issue or just not wanting more guns on the street. Legal guns very seldom are used for crime unless it was stolen. We as gun owners need to always need to remember that it is our right to own guns.And sell them within the laws. New York also gives wide latitude to the county authorities in issuing permits. That is a very good thing for us, I would not want someone in Albany to decide if I could own a hand gun. That would even take longer.
 In our age of instant everything you would think that it would not take Months to Issue permits. I know you need to do a very good check on the person, but that must take a long time? Or your application is laying on the desk of someone in the Mental Health Department or on the desk of the issuing officer.

It is a crime to possess any rifle, shotgun or handgun in or upon a building or grounds, used for educational purposes, of any school, college or university. It is lawful, however, to possess a rifle, shotgun or handgun in or upon the forestry lands, wherever located, owned and maintained by the State University of New York College of environmental science and forestry, without the written authorization of such educational institution.
