Do you want a semi-auto or revolver . Taurus, Smith and Wesson,Charter Arms all make small frame revolvers that are hammerless, this means the hammer is not exposed .The hammerless styles are good for pocket or purse carry mainly because the hammer or lack of will not get hung up on the way out when needed. If you ever have to use your weapon you need to get it out of where ever you decide to put it. My wife likes to carry a S&W air weight 38spl. We got her a revolver because of her not liking to carry a semi auto with a round in the chamber and being hammerless. But this is the purpose of having a carry gun is to have the gun loaded for use. In a time of need what are you going to do with a gun with no round in the chamber ? "Wait a minute while a chamber a round" I don,t think so.
I do not mind carrying my guns loaded in my pocket. I like the kel-tec sub compact models we have a .380 and .32acp .The .32 is my wifes. She does carry it loaded now .Ruger,Berretta,Kel-tec,Glock,Magunm Research and others make sub compact semi-auto pistols . They come in cal. 22lr-40sw and maybe .45 acp in a slightly larger frame but still fits in your pocket. When you carry any gun in your pocket daily I recommend a soft pocket holster to protect you pistol. I have aa AMT Backup semi auto that fits well in my back pocket.Sub-compact means that unloaded they weigh approx. 8-15 oz. are fit very well in your pocket. Compacts frame is slightly larger and does fit in your pocket You need to ask where am I going to carry my gun?Holster,shoulder holster,purse,pocket.With all these different types of options,you have a different need in a firearm. Sig Sauer Makes several models in the higher end semi-auto pistols,Along with other makers.
The most important thing is that the gun fits you. If you are going to carry every day The pistol can not get in your way or be uncomfortable to wear. That's the key to the right choice in personal protection hand guns. Think about what it weighs ,wear it fits on your body and is going to get in your way.
